It’s the heart of the winter.
It’s cold, it’s dark. People are busy. People are tired.
We have a natural human need to hunker down, get warm, get quiet, keep safe.
It’s a perfect time to journal.
To forget writing for others, to attract clients, to create an impression, to make a mark, to make people think, to wake people up, to look good, to entertain, to truth tell…
No.
Just a place to write, quietly, without audience, without applause, without judgements, without critics.
It’s the perfect time to journal.
To write, just for you.
To let your thoughts untangle and your ideas unfurl. To let your words flow and poems emerge.
To write, just for you.
What a gift.

Joanna, what a gift indeed. I have been journaling regularly again thanks to you. It is a gift to allow the words to tumble out freely. I can “dump” scattered thoughts, even write half sentences because it is just for me. Not surprisingly that gift has given me greater clarity when I come to the page for others. I am more focused, and the writing seems easier.

Karen I’m so glad to have helped prompt you back to journaling. It’s one activity that I would love to encourage everyone I know to do! It makes us feel so much more peaceful, harmonious, creative, alive… don’t you think? I too love the way that words can tumble there, and the ‘other’ writing we do ‘out there’ becomes easier and clearer as a result. Not to mention the gorgeous ideas, words, patterns and phrases that we might just be storing up for future use!
